Description

The aroma carries a subtle sweetness of rice and a hint of lactic acid, accompanied by a slight acidity. The taste is full-bodied, with a sweet undertone and a rich flavor. It has a full and gentle taste, with a mild matured essence.

In ancient Japanese history, there was a hero named Yamatotakeru. During his expedition in the eastern regions, he stopped at Ise Jingu (Ise Grand Shrine), where he received inspiring words from Princess Waka-hime (the Emperor's daughter) along with a sword and a fire-making kit. Later, in Sagami, he was deceived by enemies and attacked with fire while trapped in a marsh covered with grass. However, he used the sword to clear the grass and ignited the fire using the fire-making kit, thus escaping the danger and defeating his foes. During his journey, he suddenly fell ill and passed away. He was enshrined in a tomb and legend has it that he was carried to heaven by a large white pheasant. The site was named "Shiratori-zuka" and is now located at Sado Shrine in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture. From this story, the fire-making kit that saved the hero Yamatotakeru's life, the "FLINT," was used as the name for this sake.
