Description

This is a specially brewed original release, made with Kokuryoto—a rice variety never before used by Kamenoi Shuzo.

Kokuryoto is known as a “phantom rice.” Once widely cultivated in Kyushu before the war, it gradually disappeared due to its labor-intensive cultivation and tall stalks prone to lodging. Nevertheless, it held great prestige, having been selected as an offering rice for the enthronement of Emperor Showa. For decades it survived only in written records, a legendary existence. Thanks to the efforts of local farmers, it was revived from just twelve preserved seeds, bringing this fabled rice back to life.
