Kokuryu Sake Brewing, the prestigious brewery from Fukui Prefecture, has collaborated with the popular manga “Space Brothers” to create the ultra-limited “Assemblage Ato - Space Brothers -.” Built around the concept of assemblage, or blending, this release carefully combines sake from different vintages, symbolizing the long journey of the protagonists, the Nanba brothers, as they steadily pursue their dream of reaching space. Each vintage used in the blend corresponds to an important milestone in the story of “Space Brothers”: 2006 represents the brothers’ promise to become astronauts and is expressed through a treasured sake matured at the brewery for 20 years; 2021 symbolizes Hibito officially becoming an astronaut and features a sake with gentle sweetness and vibrant aromas; 2025 represents Mutta taking on the astronaut selection process and uses a crystal-clear sake with refreshing acidity; and 2026 symbolizes Hibito becoming the first Japanese person to walk on the Moon while Mutta also fulfills his dream of becoming an astronaut. Freshly pressed new sake is incorporated for this final element, bringing together flavors from different eras to create a unique expression that can never be reproduced.

The packaging is equally thoughtful and symbolic. The outer box features the deep blackness of space, depicting a magnificent view of Earth as if seen from the surface of the Moon. Upon opening the box, the iconic scene that marks the beginning of the “Space Brothers” story is revealed—the young Nanba brothers gazing up at the Moon together. The bottle label uses Echizen washi, the same traditional Japanese paper featured in Kokuryu’s premium series. Its rugged texture evokes the surface of the Moon, while footprints representing the brothers successfully setting foot on the lunar surface symbolize the moment when their long-held dream finally becomes reality.
