Description

This whisky is matured for over three years in the aging warehouse inside the Sakurao distillery. As the warehouse is located by the seaside, the aging barrels gently release the mild sea breeze, imparting a gentle Seto Inland maritime aroma. The significant temperature variations throughout the year contribute to a relatively faster aging process, distinguishing this whisky.

The rich woody aroma and subtle peat fragrance, combined with intense sweetness and mild bitterness, create a complex and profound taste.

Fragrance: Fresh citrus, vanilla, followed by a gentle peat fragrance.

Taste: Creamy sweetness and deep, damp peat aroma, with a moderately restrained bitterness.

Finish: Intense woody fragrance, with a lingering blend of sweetness and bitterness.

Sakurao Brewery & Distillery, formerly known as Chugoku Jozo Kabushiki Kaisha, renowned for "Sakurao Gin," initiated its 100th-anniversary project in 2015, constructing a new distillery.

Located in the city of Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, famous for the World Heritage Site Itsukushima Shrine, the brewery began operations in January 2018.

In July 2021, Sakurao introduced the 1st Release Cask Strength of "Single Malt Japanese Whisky Sakurao" and "Single Malt Japanese Whisky Toko-no-ura."

About a year later, this single malt whisky was released with an alcohol content of 43%, as the water-added version.
