Description

The taste of this shochu is very different from regular sweet potato shochu. The unique sweetness of 'Manamusume' sweet potatoes combined with the distinctive 100% sweet potato brewing method of Yasuda creates an aroma reminiscent of champagne grapes. It is recommended to enjoy it neat or on the rocks to fully experience its unique flavor.

'Yasuda' is a shochu made from 100% 'Manamusume' sweet potatoes, a variety that had disappeared a hundred years ago. In 2003, farmer Kokuzan Hideji started the revival project of 'Manamusume' sweet potatoes with only ten seedlings. This nurturing place is located in Kirishima City, Fukuyama Town, Kagoshima Prefecture.

To produce this shochu using 'Manamusume' sweet potatoes, Toji (master brewer) Yasuda Nobuhisa is responsible. He became a Toji at Kokubu Shuzo in 1992 and in 1997, he created the industry's first shochu made of 100% sweet potatoes called 'Imo Koji Imo.' Following that success, Yasuda used his unique techniques to brew this shochu using 100% sweet potatoes. This shochu is the culmination of Yasuda Nobuhisa's 20-year career as a Toji.
