Founded in 1764 with over 260 years of history, Horie Shuzo is the oldest brewery in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Surrounded by thousand-meter-class mountains including Mt. Jakuchi—the highest peak in the prefecture—the brewery draws from the Nishikigawa River, selected among Japan’s “100 Famous Waters,” which flows through the heart of Nishiki Town.

The basin’s pronounced difference between day and night temperatures creates an ideal environment for both rice cultivation and sake brewing. By inheriting brewing techniques dating back to the mid-Edo period while incorporating modern innovations, Horie Shuzo continues to craft sake of extraordinary finesse.

Due to its limited production and surging popularity in recent years, this sake has become one of the most sought-after and hard-to-find labels.
