Description

The aroma and flavor are unlike shochu, leaning more towards whisky. The captivating fragrance and the smooth, profound taste of 100% malt whisky. The enticing aroma is mesmerizing, and the taste is remarkably splendid.

The estate of Hoshu Tomitomi, approximately a thousand years ago, nestled in the heart of nature's fortress, was ruled by Lord Ochihamanindou Dairin, also known as Oomori Masakuni. The name of his residence was "Onikabuto Castle." Even today, the remnants of this castle continue to exude its magnificent aura.

In the past, the rich and unparalleled pure rice "Ranbiki" sake brewed in this brewery, under the label of "Onikabuto," received applause and affection from enthusiasts. Through the transmission and utilization of the secret techniques passed down through fourteen generations, the elusive sake "Onikabuto" has been successfully revived.

Since ancient times, the liquor stored in barrels breathes through the process, with some components escaping through the barrel walls, seen as a "gift to the gods." The liquor that remains within the barrels is referred to as the "blessing from the gods." In the production of distilled spirits, barrel aging has been considered the finest method.

This exquisite sake is founded on meticulously chosen rice as the base ingredient, utilizing a fully copper-made pot still, the direct-fired single distillation apparatus. Only the most refined portion known as "Ranbiki" is taken after multiple distillations and subjected to extended storage and maturation. Subsequently, it is matured and harmonized within white oak barrels. One could say it is the paramount sake akin to Japan's version of cognac.
